Description:
LIFE GREENH2ORN is a newcomer in the sense that it will implement the first operating Green Hydrogen Refuelling Station (HRS) in Greece and specifically in the city of Kozani, embedding sustainable/zero emission mobility in a lighthouse city selected as one of the 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030 Mission launched by EC.
DIADYMA’s role:
An integrated alternative production system for hydrogen as an alternative fuel is examined to be developed in the restored lignite mines, within DIADYMA's Central Waste Management facilities, where a Circular Economy Park is foreseen to operate under the company’s umbrella within the next 5-10 years. In particular, a feasibility study is being carried out. The project study is assessing the techno economic viability of the collection and transportation of produced sewage sludge from each Wastewater Treatment plant in the regional units of the Region of Western Macedonia and its processing in a central unit at DIADYMA's facilities. According to this feasibility study, the treatment of sewage sludge will be based on anaerobic digestion technology and the resulting biogas will be transformed into an alternative fuel (hydrogen) to be utilised at a refuelling station to power the regional fleet's zero-emission trash collection/transportation trucks.
