The Landfill of Western Macedonia consists of two (2) distinct basins, each of which consists of two (2) cells, a total of four (4) cells A, B, C & D.

The first basin includes A & B cells and has a total area of 85 acres. These cells operated from July 2005 to June 2017 with a capacity of 1,466,000 m2 and a capacity of 120,000 tons / year of mixed waste. These cells have stopped functioning since the beginning of June 2017 and their temporary final coverage has already been done.

The second landfill basin includes C & D cells and has a total area of 72.6 acres. In 2015 the construction of C and part of the D cell was completed with a total capacity of 955,000 m2 and their capacity is 120,000 tons / year. The capacity of the already made cells is 655.00 m2 and the occupied area is 55 acres out of a total of 72.6 acres.

The A & B cells of the landfill operated as landfills of mixed waste of the Municipalities of Western Macedonia until the time when the MBT and the landfill were put into operation, in June 2017 and since then landfill accepts non-hazardous industrial and waste from the wider area, as well as residues of the mechanical processing of mixed waste of Municipalities outside od Western Macedonia in MBT.

The landfill has supporting infrastructure and facilities such as the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with secondary treatment (in SBR system) and tertiary treatment (in RO reverse osmosis unit), mobile equipment maintenance workshop, car wash, liquid fuel supply unit, scales after its outpost and administration building with autonomous laboratory for physicochemical and microbiological analyzes.
