Program:

NATIONAL ACTION: "RESEARCH-CREATE-INNOVATE SECOND CYCLE"» Project code: Τ2ΕΔΚ-00137

Acronym:

UV-LEACH

Project Partners:

1. EDADYM
2. WASTE MANAGEMENT COMPANY OF WESTERN MACEDONIA DIADYMA SA
3. ARISTOTLE UNIVERSITY OF THESSALONIKI / DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY
4. HELLENIC OPEN UNIVERSITY / LABORATORY OF SUSTAINABLE WASTE MANAGEMENT TECHNOLOGIES

Duration:

Start: 31/07/2020

End: 30/07/2023

Description:

The UV-LEACH project aims to develop a new hybrid model for landfill leachate treatment, which combines the technology of Activated Sludge (AS) continuous or intermittent project (Conventional Activated Sludge (CAS) or Sequencing Batch Reactor) SBR)) using membrane technology (Ultrafiltration Membranes (UF)) and Advanced Oxidizing Methods (POM) with ultraviolet (UV) radiation, with the ultimate goal of minimizing environmental footprints. For this purpose, a hybrid pilot unit UF / UV / POMA will be designed and manufactured by EDADYM SA and will be optimized at the Foundry of Western Macedonia. Finally, an assessment of the environmental, commercial and economic aspects of the proposed anti-pollution technology (AS / UF / UV / POMA) will be carried out and appropriate procedures for scaling, dissemination, copying and transfer to a full-scale unit (s) will be developed.

DIADYMA’s role:

DIADYMA will participate in the work packages of the project concerning the design, construction and preliminary control of the hybrid pilot unit UF & UV / POMA for the treatment of landfills, and in particular in the mapping of the current situation regarding the composition and classification of parameters. landfill leachate. It will also participate in the optimization of the proposed anti-pollution Technology (SBR / UF / UV / POMA) at the foundry of Western Macedonia, as well as in the environmental evaluation and life cycle analysis of the AS (SBR) / UF / UV / POMA unit.
